Bibliography
Below is a listing of five tiles that have some relevance to topics discussed in class. This was rather difficult due in part to my total living-under-a-rock-ness.
1. The Man With the Black Coat : Russia's Literature of the Absurd: Most of it is devoted to Kharms' short stories, which are not only often hilarious, but well written. Of course, on a more intellectual level, absurdism is suggesting the futility and humor of typical life. So the book can be enjoyed as an introduction to absurdism and a collection of philosophic short stories.
2. The Corrosion of Character: The Personal Consequences of Work in the New Capitalism: Richard Sennet evaluates the current moral/ethical crisis embodying our current political-economic society. This book exemplifies the problems with the over-rationalization of society and the workplace (Nietzsche.)
