This journal entry is somewhat linked with the additional web entry. It's amazing, these resources on the web. To read about Descartes from so many different places, and people. To read about his going about his everyday life in Europe. To be able to casually meet up with Hobbes, and the other major philosophers of the time ``causally'' talking about these issues.
Really it makes me a bit jealous not to be around at that time. I wonder how many people like me existed back then. Too entrenched in everyday life to be able to go and meet these 'greats' Or maybe unknowing of the current 'greats.'
I guess it would be the equivalent to now-a-days Richard Stallman or Linus Torvaldes. Where computer today is a fad. Then I begin to wonder if this is really it? I wonder if this is all it comes down to. A bunch of 'schizophrenic first worlders, who have burned their brains to ash in the radiant heat of their own imaginings.' [Stephen Nielson - Snow Crash]
A kind of mental decay that has embodied our generation into thinking about nothing that really matters. Technology. A brain full of knowlege that only takes from us our humanity. This deadens us to the feelings and ideas of the real world. So that we rot away in silence within our own illusions of reality.
... from this point on I stray off... so I'll end this submitted entry here.
